RSS 0.92

Published in December of the 2000 by Dave Winner. This specification is totally compatible with RSS 0.91 Since the new elements incorporated by this version are optional. Therefore, a fichero RSS 0.91 Is also a fichero RSS 0.92 valid.

Modifications of the previous version

<language> -- It Passes to be an optional element, since if for example a same channel has different sources of information, there is not form to know to that language belongs cadauno of them.

All the sub-elements of the <item> they pass to be optional (in the previous version <link> and <title> They were required), since if for example a file RSS reflected the structure of a weblog, with multiple links and very various contents, is very difficult to synthesize in some few lines.

They are eliminated all the limits. In the previous version, restrictions existed al number of characters of the elements and al number of items (15 by channel); with the new version does not exist any limitation to level of specification, are the webmasters, readers of notícias... the ones that impose its own limits.

New elements

<source> -- Is a new optional sub-element of the <item>. Is the name of the channel RSS of where originates the item and originates of the title. It possesses the attribute required URL that aims at the source. The purpose of this element is to promote the sources of information.

<enclosure> -- Is a new optional sub-element of the <item>. It possesses three attributes required. Url indicates where is found <enclosure>, Length indicates as much as occupies in bytes, type indicates the type that is according to the estándard SPOIL.

<category> -- Is a new optional sub-element of the <item>. It possesses an optional attribute: domain, that identifies the categoria.

<cloud> -- Is a new optional sub-element of the <channel>. It specifies a service web (Web Services) that bears the interface of rssCloud and that can be implemented by means of HTTP-POST, XML-RPC or SOAP 1.1. The purpose is to permit the notification of updatings in the channel.
